This ribbon will go on a 1.5 inch collar

Martingale collars are often called "humane choke collars" - generally they are worn by hounds - greyhounds, whippets, afghans... but almost any type of dog can wear them. Although the collars are sewn to be strong, if your dog is terribly strong and a puller, I would use this type of collar for decoration only.

Grosgrain collars usually last just one season as the pattern is "painted" onto the ribbon. Most jacquard collars are more durable, although threads can get caught and fray.
